They are not that bad, however I am really irritated by the small bandwidth they offer.

Are you serious? Have you even tried trap17, you haven't even gotten past the registration link.
Trap17 is always up, they barely ever have any downtime. My site has been up for 2 years now, and I've had no problems. You get Cpanel, fantastico, and a great support team. So definitely try them, I don't know what that n00b was crying about.
